Food Review: Raisin’ the Roof

Raisin’ the Roof is probably the best vegan and vegetarian restaurant in town. For a meat-lover like me, I would never thought I will ever enjoy not one meal but multiple meals from them.

Pistachio Falafel Salad

Our menu of the day was by far the tastiest Pistachio Falafel Wrap I’ve ever had. The wrap is filled with home-made baked pistachio and herb falafels, roasted beetroot, carrots, tabouleh, home-made hummus, pomegranate molasses and mint yogurt dressing. As heavy as it may sound, the falafel found a perfect balance with a very tangy salad dressing and fresh greens. This wholesome wrap is definitely filling and satisfying.

Pumpkin & Quinoa Salad

Moving on from the wrap, we had the famous best-selling Pumpkin & Quinoa Salad. There is a choice of adding feta cheese to this salad which of course, we highly recommend to go with feta cheese. The salad is light and refreshing, perfect for a light meal or even a side for 2 to share. The baked pumpkin gives a sweet and melt-in-your-mouth sensation almost like a baked sweet potato.

Brown Rice Sushi Bowl

What really surprised us was the next dish, Brown Rice Sushi Bowl. It’s not your regular sushi, it has it’s crunch and a mix of Asian/Western flavours from avocado, edamame, sauteed spinach, pomegranate seeds, toasted seaweed and sweet soy dressing.

(left to right) Skinny Dip, Heart Beet and Chocolate Almond

Last but not least, we tried a couple of home-made drinks from it’s raw ingredients. The best we’ve tried? The Chocolate Almond.
